The Old Train Yard at Rockhill

This was a great visit to an old train yard.

We got to see how old coal towns got their coal out, and it made the whole place feel like more than just a collection of old tracks and equipment. It was a piece of the system that built towns, moved fuel, and powered a lot of progress.

One of the most notable things I still think about is how damaged the land was in the area. They cut down so many trees that you can still see the scars to this day.

It really was an eye opener. Progress can do amazing things, but it can also damage the natural beauty of an area in ways that last long after the machines stop running.
